Why Everyone Should Have a Hobby That Brings Pure Joy
I truly believe that everyone should have a hobby—something that brings you joy without the pressure of turning it into a business or side hustle. Too often, we feel like everything we do has to have a lucrative outcome, but the truth is… some of the most fulfilling things in life don’t come with a price tag.
A hobby should be something you can pour hours into without guilt, without expectations, and without the fear of disappointment. It should be a place where your mind clears, your creativity flows, and your spirit feels renewed.
For me, it all started with flowers.

Last Mother’s Day, I decided I wanted my kids to plant flowers for me. I never imagined those little blooms would bring me endless joy through not just one season—but two and three. Marigolds, zinnias, and morning glories filled my yard with color and life, and I found myself falling in love with the simple act of watching them grow.

Not long after, I was gifted a few raised beds and some soil. Then came the discovery of seed packets at the Dollar Twenty-Five store—for just thirty-three cents each!
Let me tell you, once that happened, you couldn’t stop the ambition of Planting with Pam.
What started as a sweet Mother’s Day idea grew into something bigger than I expected. Here I am, still in my very first year of gardening, yet I already feel the fulfillment I didn’t even know I was seeking.
Gardening has taught me patience, brought me peace, and given me something beautiful to look forward to every single day. And that’s exactly what a hobby should do—it should fill your cup in ways that money never could.

So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to pick up a new hobby, this is it. Try something just for the joy of it. You never know what seeds you might be planting in your own life.
